Newsletter 11/7/13

Dear Six Rivers Montessori Families,

It’s been a great week book-ended by a fantastic Opera performance with some of our students and a sweet day kayaking on the river for the Upper Elementary students. A huge amount of thanks to Teresa for organizing and directing the students in the Opera and to Dave Feral for helping make the river trip happen.

A reminder that Monday, November 11th is Veterans Day and there is no school. Have a wonderful 4-day weekend!

1. YOGA – LOWER ELEMENTARY

Dear Lower Elementary Families,

It has been wonderful to be offering yoga once a week to your children. All students will have one class a week thru November. Please see the schedule below to make sure that your child has appropriate clothing for stretching on their yoga day. In December yoga will become a choice. Thank you!

2. CLEANING HELP NEEDED

With Natalia’s departure, we need some help with cleaning. Currently, Cassie and Autumn are cleaning on Thursday afternoons right after school. There is potential to have some of the cleaning done on Friday if that fits better in your schedule. Please be in touch if you can help out.

3. BOARD MEETING – THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 14TH

The SRM Board of Directors will be meeting on Thursday, November 12th at 6PM here at school. All members of the school community are invited and encouraged to attend.

4. PATTERNED TISSUE PAPER FOR HANDCRAFT

Handcraft is looking for patterned tissue paper (i.e. stripes, butterflies, words, etc.). If you have time to check around the house and send it into school in the next week, it would be much appreciated

Bi-Weekly Library Trips – Help Needed

In order to get our children more time in the library we are scheduling bi-weekly trips to the Humboldt County Library. Only 7 children will go on each trip and they can sign up at school to go. I am looking for parents willing to drive for one or more of these trips. The next trip is Wednesday, November 20th. You would depart from school at 1:15 and have the kids back by 3:00. You can use Bridget’s car (which takes 7 kids) for transportation. A trip is also scheduled for December 11th and I also need a driver for that one.

Holiday Gift Basket Fundraiser – Contribution Commitments Wanted

We are putting together our sweet holiday gift baskets for fundraising again this year. We are asking for contribution commitments.

This is a wonderful group collaboration that you and your family can take part in. Holiday basket items have included origami ornaments, air plants, canned goods, seed packets, tea blends, candles, magnets, fudge, lip gloss, soaps, ect.

We are hoping to gauge the amount of baskets we can pre-sale in the month of November, so your quick response is much appreciated.

Items will be collected the first week of December.
