We had a great Rummage Sale event last weekend! Thanks to all the families who helped out at the event and through donations. It was both a success financially and as a community building event in our neighborhood.

1. HALLEN ROAD WORK

We’ve been informed by the City of Arcata that there will be paving taking place on Hallen Drive this coming Monday, October 7th. The driveways into the school parking lot may be closed off at drop off and/or pick up and parts of the road itself may be closed. Drive slow and safe and please walk your child to the front doors if you have to park far away.

2. COMMUNITY EVENTS COMMITTEE MEETING – SATURDAY, 10/5

The community events committee will be meeting this Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Jeanne’s house: 1847 Glendale Drive. Take the second Glendale exit on 299. Children are welcome. Please be advised that bees are kept on this property.

We will be discussing all the events planned for the year including a potential alternative Halloween celebration, greater community public service events, Thanksgiving, community picnic, parent ed. nights w/ guest speakers, and more!

If you have thought of joining this committee, have ideas or input or are just curious about what we’re up to, please join us for a lovely, relaxing weekend morning meeting.

3. BOARD MEETING – THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10th

The SRM Board of Directors is meeting on Thursday, October 10th at 6PM at the school. All are encouraged to attend.
4. 1ST YEAR & NEW 2ND + 3RD YEAR FIELD TRIPS – DRIVERS NEEDED

Drivers are needed for two upcoming field trips for 1st year students and new 2nd & 3rd year students.

Thursday, October 9th @ 9:30: Natural History Museum

Thursday, October 17th @ 1:30 (tentative): County Library

Please let me know if you would like to drive for either of these trips and how many children with car boosters you can fit in your vehicle.

5. PARENT EDUCATION NIGHT – THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24th

A heads up that Parent Education Night will take place on Thursday, October 24th from 6:30 – 8:00PM. It is extremely important that at least one member from each family attend this event. More information on the topic of the education night and childcare opportunities to come.

6. ONGOING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Yarn Needed

Handcrafters are looking for some small diameter yarn for folk doll hair (all colors and fiber content welcome). If you have some around the house that you’d like to contribute please send it to school next week.
