Job Description: Head of School

PHILOSOPHY: The Six Rivers Montessori Head of School is a centralizing leader who provides both educational leadership and business administration. The Head of School is a full-time employee who oversees the day to day operations and works closely with faculty, students, parents, school governance committees, and the Humboldt County community to lead in enacting, articulating, and furthering the core values and vision of Six Rivers Montessori as outlined in the Blueprint.

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of a B.A. degree or other relevant education, with knowledge of Montessori education preferred and/or a willingness to complete Montessori Head of School training program. Administrative experience in an educational setting with demonstrated leadership qualities preferred. 

COMPENSATION: 

• $35,000 – $40,000 (based on experience)
• $4000 benefit package to be negotiated.
 

SUMMARIZED JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Provides consistent vision and leadership in carrying out the school’s mission and educational program. 

• Takes the lead in enacting, cultivating, communicating and furthering the vision and mission of the school as outlined in the Blueprint.
• Serves as a unifying leader and spokesperson who ensures effective communication and collaboration among students, faculty, parents and the greater community in order to achieve all objectives of the school.   
• Takes leadership in the admissions and recruitment process.
• Lead the process of internal self-evaluation and long term planning.
 

2. Supports the main classroom teachers, part-time teachers, and aides in all facets of the educational program and day to day needs

• Serves as an active, on-site leader who effectively supports students, faculty and parents on a daily basis.
• Works as a team member with other faculty and provides leadership in the academics, culture, and programs of the school including recruiting and coaching faculty members and staff.
 

3. Leads in all aspects of creating and maintaining a sustainable, safe and inviting school.

• Conducts all financial business of the school and plays an active role in school governance working in conjunction with the Board of Directors.
• Supports and nurtures the financial health of the school.
• Coordinates all facility, safety and emergency preparedness needs for the school.
• Maintains a school office and assures the carrying out of all clerical needs.
